Banter… Demystified.
Hey guys… the topic of ‘banter’ has been coming up on our live immersion programs recently.
And to be honest, the skill of banter is ‘attraction material’ gold.
I realized how completely foreign the concept of banter was to the students, and probably everyone else currently learning about dating and confidence.
Why do women love ‘banter’? It’s because it’s a clear and obvious demonstration that you are a HIGH VALUE GUY… but not in the way that social conditioning has taught you to think.
Historically, you probably think a demonstration of high value is when you show that you're smart or cool or rich or something… No it’s not like that at all.
Being a bit crazy and silly is banter… banter is to be abnormal.
If you can be silly its a clear and overt demonstration that you don’t care if you are judged on what you say… you can handle judgment, social pressure.
You are the validator… not the ‘guy who fits in’
And guess what, you’re probably scared enough as it is to talk to anyone, let alone have fun with it.
But the real driving force behind banter is that you’re being silly and EXPECTING a test… and you’re ready and ‘raring to go’ with your come-backs to their tests you are going to get.
So banter isn’t just presenting a line, its presenting a set up, knowing you’ll get a test… and your right there and ready for the comeback.
So two things you need to do… stop being so normal and cordial… be ready to respond when she throws the banter at you… (also known as a test.)
(ha, I can hear you asking me now, but WHAT is an example of banter… ok I got you)
Banter is anything playful; self aggrandising stuff, role plays, self deprecation, trolling, imitating, theatrics, exaggerated compliments… need I go on?
The trick here is, you throw it out there, hold on tight as you expect to get a test back… and then, play along…
You set it up after all.
(then you transition to the intro) but thats another day.
Banter on!
